1. Agreement

By downloading, installing, or using Luban Lock (“the app”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. The service

Luban Lock provides a local encrypted vault for personal photos, videos, and audio on your device. The app is intended for lawful personal use. You are responsible for the content you import and how you use the app.

3. No cloud backup by us

We do not host your vault online. You are responsible for maintaining your password and any backups you create. If you forget your password or lose your device without a backup, we cannot recover your data.

4. Password recovery

The app may offer optional Password Recovery using a security question you configure. Recovery is performed entirely on your device. You are responsible for choosing a question and answer you can remember. Repeated incorrect recovery attempts may trigger a temporary lockout. We do not store your answer in plain text and cannot reset recovery on your behalf.

5. Decoy password (Luban Lock Pro)

The decoy password feature creates a separate encrypted vault. You are responsible for managing content in both vaults and understanding that the decoy vault is a privacy tool, not a guarantee against coercion or forensic examination. Decoy features require an active Luban Lock Pro entitlement.

6. Luban Lock Pro subscriptions

Premium features (“Luban Lock Pro”) are offered as auto-renewing subscriptions or a one-time lifetime purchase through the Apple App Store.

  • Weekly, Monthly, and Annual plans renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Free trials (if offered) convert to a paid subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends.
  • Lifetime purchase grants access to premium features for the life of the product, subject to these Terms and App Store policies.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID account. Pricing is shown in the app before purchase.

7. Managing and cancelling subscriptions

You can manage or cancel subscriptions in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device, or via Apple’s subscription management tools. Refund requests are handled by Apple according to App Store policy; we do not process refunds directly.

8. Restore purchases

If you reinstall the app or switch devices, use Restore Purchase in the app while signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the app for illegal content or activities
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, bypass security, or interfere with the app’s operation
  • Misrepresent the app’s encryption or privacy properties to others

10. Intellectual property

The app, branding, and documentation are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you ownership of the app—only a limited, revocable license to use it according to these Terms and the App Store rules.

You retain ownership of your own media and content.

11. Disclaimer

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. NO SECURITY SYSTEM IS PERFECT; YOU USE THE APP AT YOUR OWN RISK.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP OR SUBSCRIPTIONS IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.

13. Privacy

Your use of the app is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance. The current version is always available at https://lubanlock.app/terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence apply.
